Hakee never asks for your name, email or phone number. There is no sign-up and no account. The files you upload are used for one purpose only: turning them into audio for you.
An anonymous device ID: when you first open the app, a random identifier is created for your device. Its only job is to link your files and monthly page balance to your device. It contains no information about you and cannot be used to identify you.
Files you upload: stored in a private space on our servers so we can extract their text and turn it into audio. No other user can access them. If someone else uploads the exact same file, we reuse the result of processing it (the extracted text) instead of processing it again — without them ever accessing your file or knowing you uploaded it.
Page text and generated audio: kept so that replaying is instant and free, and so the same content is never converted twice.
Subscription data: purchases are made through Apple or Google, who keep your payment details. We only receive whether a subscription is active, which plan, and when it ends. We never see your card number or payment details.

You can delete any file by long-pressing it in your library and choosing “Delete”: it is removed from your phone along with its saved audio, and immediately from our servers along with its text and page images. To delete everything related to your device, email us and we'll do it within 30 days.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and announce it in the app before any significant change takes effect.
